What kind of packaging is best? (Cans vs. Bags)
The answer relates to freshness. Exposure to air causes the oils that are responsible for coffee's aroma and flavor to evaporate. The best containers for whole bean coffees are air-tight bags or cans with a valve that lets natural gases out without letting air inside. Ground coffees do not need a valve and can be packaged in an air-tight can or bag (paper bags are porous to air and permit beans to get stale quickly). To further enhance the freshness of your coffee, we recommend storing it in the freezer once the air tight package has been opened.
