F. Gavina & Sons, Inc. partnered with CISA Exportadora in July of 2003 in the "Adopt a School Project" which benefits coffee farming communities in Nicaragua that provide us with excellent gourmet coffees. Our companies participated in a major renovation of the Ena Sanchez School in Quilali and built a classroom in San Jose de la Luz. We continue to support these schools through teaching programs, attendance programs, books, and school supplies.
In June of 2003, F. Gaviña & Sons, Inc. partnered with CISA Exportadora to fund social projects in the coffee producing areas of Nicaragua. We agreed that $.05 per pound of the coffee purchased by Gaviña from CISA Exportadora would go into an account to fund these projects.
Our partner in Nicaragua, CISA Exportadora selected a coffee region based on the community’s long term commitment to the project, hired contractors and supervised the projects to completion.
In March of 2004, Pedro, Peter, Michael and Lisette Gaviña traveled to Nicaragua and inaugurated San Jose de la Luz and Ena Sanchez Schools with Dania Alvarez from CISA Exportadora.
